Wasted Love

Wasted Love...by Jondee

Your face was kind, your smile warm.
A beauty for my eyes to behold.
There was a story to tell of wasted love.
Now you wanted it to be told.

You had been unhappy for so very long,
but you had commitments to keep.
You stayed with him for too many years.
The love you had was no longer deep.

You've paid for those unhappy days.
The wasted years you've had to endure.
How hard you tried to make it work, but
it never would, of that you're sure.

He gave you little respect as a woman.
Even less as his wife.
You wanted to be free of a loveless marriage.
He was bent on bringing you strife.

When we met, there was suddenly a bond.
We had much to say to eachother.
Issues from the past you wanted to forget.
It was nothing you could tell to any other.

When I entered your life, the time was right.
You needed to find a new love.
We were grateful we had eachother.
For that we thanked the stars above.

We shared years of much happiness.
But problems arose and took their toll.
In time, we had to close our book of love,
though that was never our intended goal.

We will remain friends now and forever.
Sadly, lovers again we will never be.
We'll miss eachother, today and tomorrow.
There was no choice; we had to be free.
