How well I remember
my darling long lost.
She was my soul, my life.
Now I'm paying the cost.

I had said so often
before she was gone.
How much I'll miss her
at so lonely the dawn.

She wont be back I know,
to light my dreary life.
She's gone from me forever.
I'm left only with strife.

The illness has taken her,
with all of her charms.
I then wept for my Love
as she died in my arms.

She wont be here tonight,
when I'll need her caress.
I loved her so very much,
now I've laid her to rest.
