A soilders wife

by Midnight Vanity   Feb 17, 2012

A rose is blooming
Blooming where her loved one fell
The news came to her early one Sunday morning
She was getting ready for church
It was her ninetenth birthday
They were to be married in a little more than a month
She just fixed her hair
When she heard a knock at the door
She thought he came home early
She was excitied
But when she opened the door
A soldier was there
Just not hers
"I'm very sorry miss."
He said and handed her a letter
Her eyes filled with tears just as he turned to go to His car
She broke down in the garden he planted her
He wrote on last letter
He never got a chance to send it
He wanted to tell her he loved her
Her mother came through the door
She saw her daughter crying
They burried him on a hill
If you looked at it at sunset
It was infront of the sun
She remember how he loved to put
Roses infront of the sun
She planted a black rose in front of
His grave stone
She put on the wedding band he gave her
They were husband and wife in her mind
He is always in her heart

    Aww I like this poem.
It's a sad touching one. You can visualize her as she gets excited thinking its him but finding out its not. I love the way you ended it with the black rose and putting her wedding band on the grave.

    Good job :)
