Drifter

by Avrii Monrielle   Feb 23, 2012

At 13
You told me
You had cut yourself
With a pencil sharpener.
I didn't
Act like I cared.

Even when you showed me the X's
Or when my cousin
Started picking up the trend
Because of you
"I didn't care".

You looked at me
Expecting me to go omagawd
Or yeah, me too
I didn't tell you
I'd been holding scissors
Earlier.

Your cousin told me
He was worried
You could get too drunk
Something bad could happen
We were 14.

At your quince
I asked him to leave with me and my cousin
Just for a little while
And he refused to leave you.

You found out
I had a crush on him
And ripped our friendship
In half
When I helped you with birthday decorations.

I hate the part
Where you forgot
All of this
When I reminded you
As seniors.

We are in college,
And all I can think of
In these pictures
Is your new best friends
You will throw away
Next year.
