Poetry an I

by *emmax*   Feb 27, 2012

I wrote from the gushing of a poetic volcano
poured out debris of undiscovered matter
blasted fumes of violent emotions in motion
rattled the unsuspecting souls
with depth of feeling

Poetry intoxicates me
vibrates the very vertebrae of my soul
quakes the still waters of my inner man
poetry so true so irrevocably true
poetry my only truth

Poetry why?
why do you posses me
why do you hold me so close
why do you mingle yourself with my blood
poetry why do you love me so unlawfully

Poetry my very breath
my true self
my essence
my being
poetry...
hold me
forever

I feel this poem more then others probably understand because i have a love hate relationship with poetry. It is something i can never turn away from but at the same time it suffocates me.. It holds me close, always loves, and is always there. That in general is my relationship with poetry. Im very captured by the writing style because even though its freeverse, its still unique and interesting. It truly does describe what it is to be a poet from the heart. Thank you for sharing this piece

A very well worded poem, mired in your love for poetry. Powerful imagery, mixed with raging emotions, very well portrayed here. The similie to compare the flow of poetry from our deep thoughts, like "debris or matter" gushing from a volcano was well done. The intoxicated feelings that one gets when writing poetic thoughts, is indeed earthrattling, or "vibrates" = shakes our insides, is so well captured in the 2nd stanza.
The interrogative in the 3rd stanza was very unique, and the words below about how your poetry reflects you, your very breath, self and essence, are simply beautiful.

    Poetry my very breath
    my true self
    my essence
    my being
    poetry...
    hold me
    forever

Well expressed, from the poet in you. Enjoyed your style and depth. 5/5 and nominated.
