We can no longer be

A few months gone by
words left unspoken
It is what it seems
a few hearts have been broken

Though we all make mistakes
I made one that was unforgivable
you accepted my apology but,
What I did was regrettable

If a time machine were invented
I would go back in time,
fix my mistakes,
& show you you're sublime

Though words can't easily fix
these mistakes I have made,
I still say "I'm Sorry"
for these games I have played

A few months gone by
and we end up as friends
Worried about making love
cause of the message it sends

We continue to make love
for a couple of days
it almost seemed crazy
that we were back to old ways

One night I told you
while making love on my bed
"baby, I love you"
yet your words left unsaid

My mind so confound
My heart almost dropped
Though you said no words to me
I could never have stopped

I didn't expect
to hear words in return
I know that those words
& feelings are earned

But I don't think I deserve
what you have given to me
so I say goodbye and
I'm sorry we could not be
