Fortress

by remimic   Mar 15, 2012

I built myself a fortress today
With big stone walls
That will certainly
protect me from your blows

Oh, here's an attack now.
I can hear your angry attacks
Pounding like boulders.

My walls are too thick.
My defenses are nearly perfect.
I will hardly feel
your painful blows.

Ouch. One got past.
It really hurt.
Time for my turn now.

I take a breath
and make my retort
to your angry words.
I can see it cut like a knife.

Yes, this is our game
of Cat and Mouse.
You attack
and I defend
in a broken fortress..

Nice imagery. The flow was simple and consistent. There's this atmosphere in this piece that I really like, though I can't explain what or why.. Well, great job with this piece. Gets a 5/5 from me :) Keep writing!
