The First Real Tear

by Jeff Weiner   Mar 21, 2012

As they roll emotions flow
shedding feelings inside,
Salt bittering quivering lips
now losing lion pride,

Releasing fear once held
letting another in,
Opening to a new way
showing a secret sin,

Brought to a level never seen
maybe an escape from what is known,
Drastic as it may seem
the usual needs to be overthrown,

Simplicity seems to be the answer
from a mind so confused,
Seemingly so self loving
obviously self abused,

Hiding behind a smile so bright
saying what they want to hear,
Never telling himself the truth
until shedding the first real tear

This almost reminded me of a court hearing. I thought this was a great poem. Really expressed a lot of emotion in the way the guy had to tell them what they want to hear but he doesn't want to. Nice write. :)
