Misdirection

by Lofallenve   Mar 25, 2012

A simple step in the wrong direction
Can take you a mile out of this place.
You can turn around to face your trail,
Only to find the wind has swept it away,
Obliterated every step you have taken in your life.
Lost amongst a place of so much mystery,
Fear is seen along the lines of your face.
You're lost.
You know deep down inside your soul,
This place is not for the light of heart,
This is not a place for a gentle being as you.
Hammered in backwards,
The sharp points of the nails in the trees,
Threaten to tear and to scratch.
Every direction you turn,
Is just the same as the last.
Nowhere to move,
Nowhere to go.
Afraid to take a step,
Afraid it'd take you somewhere worse.
Tears of all hope lost stream from your tired eyes.
Your once soft, supple hands,
Find their way in your tendrils of hair,
Pulling and screaming:
"Get me out of this place."
Despair takes shape of your body.
Eyes squeezed shut to keep the images out.
But if you'd only open them you'd see.
This helping hand that I am holding out.

I love how you ended this. In this cruel world, there'll always be a helping hand.

    Well-penned 5/5 :)
