Modern Day Cinderella.

by Girl of Conviction   Apr 6, 2012

There was a girl,
who was quiet and shy,
you couldn't break thru to her,
no matter how hard you'd try.

She lived in a castle,
in a far away land,
she waited for her prince to come,
take her away, to take her by the hand.

But she knew that would never happen,
she wasn't the prettiest of them all,
she had two mean stepsisters,
one was short and the other very tall.

Her father died
when she was only eight,
he died in a carcrash,
still breathing, but the paramedics
got there too late.
Ever since then
her world was never the same,
because of that
she always felt to blame.

Her sisters are jealous,
because cinderellas beauty was true,
unlike theirs, ugly and unattractive
and that they sadly knew.
They would do anything to bring their sister down,
tearing, breaking apart her world,
doing this until they seen
poor cinderella frown.

She has an evil stepmom
who treats her like dirt,
saying mean things to her,
things that really hurt.
But she dont care,
as long as poor cinderella
does whats asked of her,
like a slave girl, this was her reality,
this was her world.

One day at school,
a guy by the name of brett,
always looked for cinderella,
he had a crush on her,
but he would never tell.
Because he didnt feel good enough,
but thats funny
because cinderella felt
the exact same way about him.

They were the best of friends
since the age of three,
they were always there for eachother,
this was a love forseen.
One day he asked her to the homecoming ball,
she shook her "no i cant, im sorry,
my stepmom wont let me go anywhere at all".

He refused to take no for an answer,
so the night of the ball,
he would take his cinderella,
the beautifullest one of all.
He texted her to meet him
at her window up high,
it was possible,
all she had to do was try.

She did was he asked
and trusted him
the whole way down,
"wow she looks beautiful"
he thought, looking at her
beautiful white gown.
They run to his car,
laughing all the way,
she hasn't had this much fun in years,
she looks at Brett speechless
unsure of what to say.

They sit in silence
looking into eachothers eyes,
cinderella never felt so special,
tonight she felt like
a winning prize.
Brett leans in and whispers
in cinderellas ear,
im your prince my lady have no fear.

He kisses her gently on the lips,
slowly moving his hands
down onto her her hips.
They both loved eachother
for far too long,
both from two different worlds,
it would of felt wrong.

But right at this moment
the world seemed right,
she couldn't ever remember seeing
the sky so bright, not like tonight.
He turns on the car
and begins to drive,
she never felt this happy,
so at peace, alive.

He tells her to say goodbye
to her old life and that hes
taking her away,
excited within herself
she couldnt bare to stay another day.
Instead of her prince coming
on a white horse, he came in a
beat up old honda, even better she thought.
She was happy, she was free,
she was taken care of by her prince,
the man of her dreams.

Off they go to the ball
to have some fun,
slow dancing all night
till the music's done.
Then they'll take off into the sunset
just them two,
and show the world
what true love really is,
and to make his cinderella happy
all the days of his life
and to make up for all the years
she was in pain, living in strife.

Cinderlla and her prince
lived happily ever after,
they had their ups and downs,
shared some laughs, had a few frowns,
but despite all that
they were happy with their lifes,
Cinderella had been asked
to become the Princes wife,
no more pain and suffering,
no more living in strife.
