Forgotten Love

by Brad Champagne   Apr 12, 2012

Wind-swept years have slipped away
Since last I glimpsed your lambent face
Loves were found and hearts were lost
Again I sought to find my place

Through the mist a light was seen
Words I longed for took their breath
You spoke of better, simpler days
Feelings of forgotten depth

I at arms on foreign soil
My return you would await
Letting go past goodbyes
None but fool could hesitate

Thinking not "what might have been"
Gladly took the hand stretched near
Of my friend, my love, my muse
Setting by my doubt and fear

The broken roads of two such lives
Met once more to intertwine
And I know it must be blessed
For such a soul again to find
