Hidden Behind The Mask

by Angel   Apr 16, 2012

She walks around,
Surrounded by silence.
Within her is a secret life,
Which is full of violence.

Silently,
Her eyes scream out.
Wondering who will see them,
And offer her their help.

On the outside,
She looks quiet and smart.
And everyone knows.
She has a passion for art.

But there are two types of art,
In her life.
One is for show,
And the other is a fight.

They don't see the knife,
Hidden in her fist.
She uses it as a paintbrush,
And for a canvas, her wrist.

No one sees,
What's hidden behind the mask.
Probably because,
No one cares enough to ask.

The life she lives during the day,
Is all a lie.
And behind the smiles and the laughs.
Is a girl who wants to die.

If only she could open up,
If only they could see.
The monster that's inside of her,
Or the angel she wants to be.

She tired of living,
Because it's the same thing every day.
Smiling and laughing,
With nothing true to say.

But if she opened up,
They wouldn't understand.
The reasons she keeps,
The knife in her hand.

With the blade she paints pictures,
Up and down her arm.
Leaving scars that are proof,
Of her self-inflicted harm.

At night when she can't sleep,
She'll look up at the stars.
While running her hand,
Over her pale white scars.

She can feel the lines,
She drew upon herself.
Wanting and praying,
For someone to help.

The pain is becoming,
Too much to bear.
And now she's starting,
Not to care.

She doesn't know how,
Much more she can take.
All the pain is building up,
And she is ready to break.

She tries to have hope,
But nothings getting better.
She's fading fast,
Because she thinks there's nothing left for her.

So as she cries herself to sleep,
Every night.
She's slowly dying,
Losing the fight for her life.

I swear I made this up

I still thought even though made up that this was a great poem. It really spoke out. Sometimes when people go through things like that it is hard for them to reach out. To really ask for help. It's like they are too far gone. I thought the emotion and all was expressed well here. All in all a great write. :)
