Escape to Caged Silence

by Lofallenve   Apr 19, 2012

The wind teases the tendrils of my hair
Whipping them around in the breeze
Tangling them all around my face--
The sun tries its best to chase the cold
This world seems to bring down upon me
The warmth that is shone down is barely felt--
The beautiful attempt of song the birds make
To try to bring life back to my fallen grace
Falls down upon my deaf ears
Like the dead leaves off the autumn tree--
I find myself lost in the silence of the forest
As the sound of the concrete jungle still rings
As a distant but haunting memory--
When I had found myself here,
It often left me to wonder
Where did I think I would be?
A place of easy solace?
A place where memories could be forgotten?--
The newly green grass dances at my feet
Seeming to beg me: please, stay.
The two simple words I wished you'd say.
I had found myself thinking this would be an escape
That the place I had been grown,
Would be my safe haven away from it all.--
Being alone,
I find it is anything but.--
The beauty is overwhelming
And even more than I could ever hope for.
A place I'd give up everything to have once more.--
But what comes with a picturesque silence
Comes the once muted thoughts,
Fighting with doubts, with fears, with screams
Having been shut away for so long,
They are finally as free as I once thought I'd be.
