Goodbye

by Purple Haze   Apr 19, 2012

Leaves dance in the trees,
while the breeze sings a sorrowful tune.
The clouds hide the sun,
Leaving the world in a gray haze.
A chill runs through the air,
Enhancing the sorrow.
Flowers follow each other in a circle,
Around a single white stone.
A young girl silently stares,
At a rose in her hand.
She holds on to it,
As though it will hold her onto the earth.
A whinmper fills the air,
Filled with so much pain.
Tears cascade down her rosey cheeks.
Falling upon the rose.
Causeing it to wilt,
As though it feels the same pain.
She sets the rose on the white stone.
She grazes her fingers over the rough stone,
Leading her fingers to the engraving.
She feels every line, letter, and word.
Each causing more pain.
"Goodbye, Daddy" are her last words,
before she runs into her mothers arms.
