Liar, Your Hold is Gone

by Lofallenve   Apr 23, 2012

The first thing I noticed about you,
Minus those russet eyes of yours,
The way they could melt my anger,
And rid me of my rightful resolve.
Was the easy way you could lie.
They poured out of your mouth
Like the roaring of a waterfall.
Do they burn on your tongue like acid?
Or do you take pride in your false truths?
At first you offered me saccharine words
But after a couple offerings I realized
That beneath the sugary words I wanted to hear
Biting into the honeyed apple,
I discovered the core was as rotten as your soul.
There were times where I wished it was your fists
That hit me, that left bruises upon me,
Instead of the way your words haunt my mind
Like the ghosts in the haunted manor
Like the imaginary monsters under my bed.
For I could heal my physical wounds faster,
Far swifter than trying to heal that of a fragmented heart
Far speedier than trying to heal that of a devastated soul.
This will be my first step of getting over you.
Ridding myself of all the physical evidence of your presence.
So expect your gifts, the clothes you left
To be sitting on your stoop.
Without a single note explaining why,
Without a single regret.
I live for the day when I can listen to my music
And not hear your voice echoing along,
When I can lie down in bed
And not want to feel your touch
Where I can stand outside in the sun
And instead of thinking of you,
Thinking of the warmth of the sun's rays.
I live for the day where memories of you,
Where memories of us that I used to cherish
Slowly fade away like the footprints on a beach.

A somewhat angry poem you got here. Good job in making your point stand out and keep the whole poem interesting to read. I really enjoyed this, the poem, not the lying to you part. Great.
