A Man with Something to Give

by Jeff Weiner   May 16, 2012

He went off to see the world with a master plan
Thinking that he knew how to live,
Wanting to be his own man
But didn't yet have anything to give,

What did drugs and alcohol bring
Just lost time and memories,
Time with family watching them grow
And a life that faded in the breeze,

Traveling around, hiding in a crowd
Blind to the ignorance of his existence,
Opportunities would pass him by
Despite their persistence,

What did drugs and alcohol bring
Besides lost time and memories,
Time with family now gone
And a life that faded in the breeze,

A small period of success was found
Where he thought he was living the dream,
Then the call of reality was heard
Now living lonely in a silent scream,

What did drugs and alcohol bring
Except an awakening to a new way to live,
Now he can reach out to another
Proud to be a man with something to give
