When the Light Shone Through

by Kitty Kurse   May 22, 2012

When the light shone through
I realized I truly did love you,
And when the light shone through;
My sadness was gone; you took away my blues.

When the light shone through I was dried from all my tears,
I wanted to grasp such a feeling and keep it for many years.
And when the light shone through,
Like a flower covered in dew,
A single water droplet hanging off a green leaf,
I had a single emotion that was picking me up when I was in so much defeat.
One that watered my roots but wouldn't drown me with the sea.

When the light shone through,
I was scared that you would leave,
I couldn't imagine what would happen if you weren't with me.
And when the light shone through a smile came upon my face,
It shines on both of us; love and grace we exchange.

    I'm really thinking of ditching my draft and not entering that contest. This is really good, Kitty ^^
    I really think the echo of the title at each stanza did your piece a favor, and the rhymes helped with the sort of bouncy, light-hearted atmosphere of this piece. Great job. Five
