I watched you sleeping, and wondered if it was better for you to have changed me or me to have changed you. You told me you felt over civilized, like domestic dogs and cats. You wanted to run back to the Forrest and learn to bite people and catch mice... But you already knew too much of the outer world, and the knowledge, the living of it, made you more and more exhausted. Knowledge has always been a burden to mankind.
"The civilized world has its own civilized rules of the game."
I smiled in agreement but noted that writers should be an exception to the rule. Writers are, after all, the least capable of people. Only those who can do nothing but dream all day would choose this line of work.
