WHY WE DISREMEMBER 16 JUNE 1976

by Tshego The Poet   Jun 11, 2012

Sweats and tears are not remembered
Exile that swallowed our brothers and sisters
16 June 1976 that buried our hopes and ropes
Is this how we thank them for their contribution and education?
They have bought this democracy with their lives.

Many have gone 12 miles down and up
Why shouldn't we give them recognition for their instruction?
For breads and tea they have brought to us
They who buried the system of racism and suffering.

But now!!!!!
Corruption and nepotism are our neighbours
Alcoholism and teenage pregnancy pleases our minds
Crime and rape are the system of surviving,
Our culture is outdated while western culture is updated
These are the systems of our youth and generation.
