Can You Hear It? (Kyrielle Sonnet)

by Aaron   Jun 26, 2012

Can you hear it,
a monstrous cannon after the blackest of skies is lit,
the roar of the thunder that chases the lightning
with a boom and a bang some would say it's quite frightening.

Sounds of ricocheting are ever present as drops pound metal,
yet there is no sound when water hits petal,
with another swift flash of light I feel, now, my every nerve tightening;
with a boom and a bang some would say it's quite frightening.

The smell of rain, if there is such a thing, climbs into my nose
as the deep howl of wind continues and grows,
through whispers I hear it call my name, my fear now hieghtening;
with a boom and a bang some would say it's quite frightening.

Can you hear it,
with a boom and a bang some would say it's quite frightening.

    Beautiful poem, i liked this one alot. It had excellent imagery that really brings the reader into the poem. Again the repeation us perfecly placed. I'm not much for writting a certain style of poetry (usually i just write what ever comes from my heart and out the pen ) but this was a great read
