Gears

by joseph santacruz   Jul 17, 2012

The gears in my head used to turn so fast
part of my accelerated past.
They moved to fast for feelings of affection
although they spun in the right direction.
A few of those gears felt wobbly and bent
due to all those high times spent.
My new assignment is years of confinement
my gears are feeling so out of alignment.
Now im chained and prison bound
I need to slow these squeaky gears down.
I find a few of my gears have slipped
missing teeth perhaps stripped.
Im feeling older, a bit ill
but at least my gears are spinning still.
