Screen Door

I know some folks cant remember the capitol of there state
but have no problem remembering the last grand slam hitter crossing the plate.

They have trouble remembering their own kids names
but religiously observe the times of the games.

Sometimes at a loss of people and face
but when the coin is tossed they know the time and place.

So dense they appear their head is full of rocks
then they quote the statistics of all men who box.

Without his calculator he seems surely lost
then from the top of his head he computes players salaries and costs.

Some people cant even recall their mates birthdate
but have no trouble remembering their favorite quaterbacks start date.

Others cant seem to remember their anniversary date
but have no problem remebering their halfbacks home state.

couples drift apart and children grow up
Sunday the games start and the teams always show up.

So to keep peace and things on an even keel
Its best to watch the games together and see what reveals.

Some kids run wild looking for kicks
I like my kids home watching the draft picks.

In this world filled with so many afflictions
one could much worse then suffering a sports addiction.

In some neighbors houses I hear screaming and yelling
whats going on? theres no really telling.

The yelling you hear coming from my screen door?
are shouts of joy. my favorite team just scored.
