Life is long

by MARCO   Aug 15, 2012

I led the life of a dealer and addict; everyday I had to face all kinds of static.

I had people asking me for cash; I wasn't big, I just messed up with their stash.

Flunkies were looking for me everywhere; I thank the Lord I was always one step ahead of theres.

Frightened in a life or death situation; my life was headed for it's final destination.

What was I to do I was in a state of confusion; my mind was so clogged up with drugs i was seeing illusions.

A vision of death told me to slice my wrist; i got my hands on a knife took a swing and i missed.

Now I'm in debt to my higher power; the one whom stood by me through my darkest hour.

If it were'nt for Him I would'nt know right from wrong; I thank my Lord for showing me that life is long.

I really connect with this poem on a personal level, because I have had a similar experience. I was very lost, living on the streets doing crazy things just for the next hit. The meaning behind this piece is powerful, keep writing!
