I fear

by The Po whet   Aug 16, 2012

I used to be fearless,
but that was ago
long before
I came across my newly found nemesis.
back then,
fear was a word
I heard in passing
for I was a warrior
a fountain of bravery.

but today ...I fear.

I fear being
alone in the dark,
for darkness reminds me
of the past legends
of zombies and phantoms
that crept and basked in
the dark of the night
and no I'm not a toddler
but
...still, I fear.

I fear walking alone
in the forest,
the crackling sounds of falling branches
the rustling of leaves as the wind blows
and the winking shadows behind the trees
makes my heart to shudder.

yes, I fear

I fear to dream
for every dream I've dreamt
has always confirmed my worst fears.
every dream was like the last,
every dream ended with the same nightmare
...that I had fallen in love again.
