The Sad Truth About Goodbye

by Andrea Torres   Aug 19, 2012

That was where I met you;
Amidst a smoke hooded crowd
Boisterous noise of alcohol drowned thoughts.
We both led a discontented life.
You came to me and hated me, I hated you since.
I touched you with vengeance and you kissed me with loathing.
But when our bodies intertwined or soul merged.
It was you, I am yours, we belonged together.
We began to feel afraid so we decided to say goodbye,
It was best if we never tried.
After I left, you fought with yourself.
I knew I couldn't live without you, hoping you feel that way too.
And then you beckoned me to come back,
Reasoned that life without me is not enough.
I questioned your love, you answered me.
"if this is not love? Then tell me what it is"
You said, "without you I can't live".
And indeed, it was love beyond all else.
Not sweet, not bitter, not happy, not sad.
It was utterly good and decidedly bad.
It is everything we feel, everything that is real.
Although it seems wonderful, beauty has its price.
For after that fantasy we lived,
We still have to say goodbye.
For I was not yours to start with,
And your life was never here.
So why did fate brought us together?
When in the end we will be seperated.
You said we should fight the odd circumstances,
I said we let go.
There's no easy way out the maze of love
Sometimes we never get through
And I know I'd rather be lost than never have you.
So I cry inside my heart,
I keep you safe by forgetting me
This is how I will love you, eternally.
