Watching From Afar

I'm so close,
I can see you chest rise and fall,
With the rhythm of our heart,
I can see you close your eyes,
With every blink.
I'm so close yet so far.

I'm so close,
I can see you frantically taking down notes,
With those hands,
Those hands I long so much,
Long that they would touch me one day,
I'm so close yet so far.

I'm so close,
I can see hear you on your phone,
Talking to your friend,
Why couldn't I be one of those,
In your close knit circle,
I could love, and cherish you so,
I'm so close yet so far.

I'm so close,
I can see you walking down the street,
Walkman in your ears,
And music blasting out,
You didn't hear me scream,
I screamed so loud that day,
You didn't see me running towards you,
You didn't see anything.
You crossed that road,
And didn't look left nor right,
You crossed that road,
And you didn't come home that night,
I was so close yet so far.

I was so close,
I was so near,
I cannot remember a day when I cried more,
When I was more low than that,
All I ever wanted was to be with you,
All I ever wanted was to be close to you,
Be close,
But not so far.
