Truth Is

by MyHalozChokinMe   Aug 23, 2012

There is never a moment
that you will be able to
possess completely.

You won't be able to save yourself
or your heart; only your memories.

He will leave you with pictures and pets,
nothing more than a selfish grin and an
"I told you so" sneer in the wind.

The heart won't grow fonder.

It won't think of the bigger picture.

It will hurt.

It will bleed burgundy pain,
shining through the chagrin,
spilling on your lapel,
staining the picture perfect
idea that this shit works out.

It doesn't.

Not until you have hurt so long
that your teeth vibrate and
your tears sting the skin.

Maybe then, you will find
something substantial
enough to ease the pain
and hide the scars that
only appear in the light.

This poem is very touching for those who are in need of hearing this. The mind is such a complex thing and we often fail to see the truth that is in front of us because we choose to focus on the lie that we create for the future. That things will get better and change. When in reality they won't.

    Great work x

This poem seems to be advice to a young woman from one who has been there. Your mood, balanced between irony and bitterness, is difficult to maintain, but you accomplish it beautifully.
Your truth is certain: pain doesn't stop because you want it to. It must work through the system entirely.

Your final stanza crowns your wisdom:

    "Maybe then
    you will find something substantial
    enough to ease the pain
    and hide the scars that
    only appear in the light"

These words can only have come from one who has weathered through.
