Caged Souls Of The Middle East

by layla   Aug 26, 2012

Born in a country, where the mountains rule
Where getting a wife, cost the price of a mule
With a heavy dark robe, the women all wear
They don't have a choice, they don't even dare

Not a soul on this earth can compare to those
The woman I speak of, the ones in the robes
The look in their eyes, an unforgettable sight
Like a Junco bird, they never go bright

Imagine a life, where you can't go outside
Caged like an animal, born without pride
The chains on this cage, a key can't unlock
The cage is the law, you're watched like a hawk

The ancient laws are biased indeed
Created for reason, of power and greed
Your opinions don't matter, don't speak tell they say
Your voice is mute, and your spirit is gray

The event that follows, a defying voice
A beating takes place, you don't have a choice
The physical lesson, the pain you receive
Doesn't compare, to the sadness you grieve

I hope that it's clear, to those whom read this
That freedom is precious, you shouldn't dismiss
We take so much, and feel we deserve
The American people, all have the nerve

You don't like your car, got rejected from Yale
Your boyfriend dumped you, cause the weight on your scale
You cell phone is lost, you think life is over
you complain to your husband, I want a land rover

You ignorant woman, who choose to be blind
To the tragic reality, you place out of mind
That children are starving, and woman get beat
But your biggest problem, is white over wheat

I feel sorry for you, you've earned how your viewed
The American life, drink booze and get screwed
Things can be changed, you do have a choice
Unlike the robed woman, who don't have a voice

So please just imagine, your self in their shoes
Your life is planned, and you have no views
Your girls can't learn, and your boys you obey
The woman in the robes, live this life everyday
