Devout love

by Sweetdream   Sep 9, 2012

I am her silent observer,
This is my only choice,
Naturally I am a server,
Though not without a voice.

But to choose otherwise,
Could only make me wrong,
Worthy of her deep despise,
Not a love for her lifelong.

My love for her is selfish,
Hence all choice is gone,
I can't ever have my wish,
Sad I am just fates pawn.

My love is in love you see,
Her love is naturally sweet,
Except that it's not for me,
Seeing it is a very rare treat.

So I can't say a word to her,
Or to admit how I really feel,
How she makes my heart stir,
Makes me wonder if she's real.

I thought about pulling strings,
Or trying to move things along,
Except I believe in those rings,
So refuse to step into the wrong.

I know I could love her forever,
I could make that promise today,
It would be the truest love ever,
And it still wouldn't make it okay.

Silent observer with a sad smile,
Even though I'm filled with doubt,
What's meant to be may be a while,
And it might just pay to be devout.
