I think this is a haiku. I've been wanting to experiment with this form for a while now. You used that to perfectly paint a still image of winter inside my head. Very beautiful.

    MaryAnne,

I loved this poem because it had such an interesting interpretation of the artwork. I really appreciated the fragment of "Snow's intimacy", the paper surrounding the artist did create a feeling of intimacy didn't it? It was almost as though she was in her comfort, hiding from everything.

I was extremely curious as to why you used ravens in this? What gave you that sense when you looked at the artwork. I know you work with a lot of symbolism in your poetry and so I started to think maybe you were linking the concept through the word raven. Perhaps interpreting the poem to death and the idea of being buried? I can actually see where you may have been going, the papers were surrounding her quite thickly as though she was being buried beneath them so it really works!

    Another wonderful haiku!

Thanks Mel for your amazing thoughts here...I love reading your comments, they come from the heart. I honestly didn't think about using "raven" as a symbol, but if you read it that way that's all the better :) I just saw her hair and the contrast to the snowy white "feathers" and paper surrounding her...

Thank you Ingrid! Big hugs <3
