Fairytales Are for Suckers

by MyHalozChokinMe   Sep 27, 2012

Fairytale endings are,

what's the word I'm looking for?

Appealing, I guess,

(No.)

Exactly what they should be-

Complete.

With a period-

That last one,

you know???

That finish.

The one they've been waiting for,

almost expecting by now,

gathered around giddily,

with fingers crossed oh-so-tight,

without fail,

holding their breath for,

waiting for that prince

to find his princess.

That happily-ever-after;

Isn't that what you'd like?

Maybe this "princess" has given up.

It wouldn't matter if Prince Charming

ever found her, it's probably better if

he doesn't.

He'd just abandon her like everyone else

anyway.

He'd leave after promising to love her

"through good times and bad times"

and the saucer-sized eyes of their daughter

would fill and she'd be dumbstruck.

Or:

That man would come along,

with the silver-tongue

and hone in on her loneliness

and weakened spirit,

just to shatter her into

a million pieces.

And leave.

Her alone.

To pick herself up.

Again.

No.

There is no perfect end.

One that satisfies

Utterly sweet and

perfectly complete.

She'll never walk away

with that stupid grin

that wont wash off.

She believes that life is

for someone else.

She doesn't believe in fairytales.

    Soo sad :(

This stirred up a lot for me, which I won't go into but it really got my thoughts going. I must admit I once believed in these so called fairy tales and the happy endings and I was so close to having this and getting to be with my prince until it was took away from me. SO now I have to agree with you and all of this poem and what you describe. I do not believe this will happen for me.

Your wording here is like you are actually talking to the reader and asking them what they think too? What do they agree with and did they believe it too.

The other thing that caught my attention in this one is during the poem you talk about love and the fairytale of relationships, but at the end of the poem you are not saying this love is not for you, you state that you believe life is not for you. This is such a sad thought and implys just how much pain you have endured to end up thinking this way. Again, another thought I can relate to and have experienced myself.

I like how you singled out the last line, which sums up your thoughts on the poem and I will assume most of the other readers.

    Fantastic job. xx

Thank you. So glad to have found a place where I don't have to explain a GD thing. Ever. You read, you feel, you relate, you get it.

DUUUDEEEEEEEE!!! Omg, did you jump inside my brain and write this??? This is exactly how I feel right now!! Fairytales are for those who are trapped in this box with the "thought" of love. Men annoy me right now. I have these annoyed, aggravated, pessimistic views towards them to. I loved that this was in poetry form, but then again it was in a thought process form. Like a monlogue.

Brilliant. Loved this. Fairytales are fake, relationships are a constant battle of making "it work", there is no Prince who saves the day, he f's up, there is no Princess who is Holier than Thou, shes twisted or a wh**e...thats seriously what kind of world this seems like anymore...and I love how you voiced that!! I loved this! Eeeekkk, this is my new "single girl" poem lmao
