Life Long Lesson

by MyHalozChokinMe   Oct 12, 2012

I'm six pairs of the same cut, color and style of jeans.
I'm two weeks of long, lazy vacation and short five-minute showers.
I look great in cheap sunglasses.
I'm "Let's go grab a drink," and "I'll let you touch my guitar if I can touch yours."
I'm "I don't care what you wear, clothes don't make the person"
Now and then I'm nobody.

I'm a Dodge with the music too loud, with my long hair flying out the window.
I'm a soft place to land and a good feeling within.
I'm a warm conversation that none would miss for anything.
I'm a fierce fighter when I'm mad and a great listener who waits her turn before telling you the things you didnt want to hear, but need to.

I'm the woman who goes running through the rain and leaves muddy footprints in your kitchen.
I've got a genuine "Elvis Presley" smile, a great laugh, compliment, shoulder whenever you need them.
I'm a good book, a comfortable chair and a soft light.

I"m shouldering too much responsibility, singing along to the music completely off-key.
I read aloud with too much enthusiasm.
I don't always do things the way I should and I'm full of lessons learned from mistakes made before.
Deep down, I'm the quiet one in the back of the room happily buried in books, art and music.

I'm tattoos and long drives to good tunes.
I'm the worn-off spot on my black leather boots.
I'm always on time, leaving an hour before my appointments.
I am homemade, handmade pasta.
I'm a ringing cell phone, a dozen text messages and a hand to hold.
I'm not a doctor, I'm your other half and I know that one plus one equals two.
I'm your life-long lesson, the one you'll never forget.
I'm my black and white photographs, my simple poetry and my planned prose.
I am blue eyes, dark hair and a brilliant mind.

Soooo nominated! This is amazing. The energy reading this is great, I wondered if this was anything to do with the flaws challenge? This sounds like you are stating who you are, what you do, what things make you you!

You are so certain of how things are and what you believe in, you stand by this clearly throughout the poem.

The unique idea in here of comparing yourself with outher things, objects and people. You mention how you are there for your friends to support them and offer advice, and earlier mention you are the person who tells you the truth when you don't really want to hear it.

The whole poem was brilliant and full of confidence, which you may not always feel, but let this poem remind you of the beautiful and brilliant talented person you are.

Yes, this started out as my challenge poem but I couldn't find a way to weave a story of how his makes me beautiful so I scrapped it. :)
