Set me free

by Ole Carsten   Oct 28, 2012

In the summer I am collecting power,
My bark is protecting me in sunshine.
I shelter birds and bees.

I am getting stronger during my life,
Even I have to bend in stormy weather.
I can move much.

Around me there is a busy life,
People are building a lot.
But it always disappears again.

I have been here many years,
I have seen more than I want.
So much stress and defeat.

During spring when my leaves are new,
Lovers cut their names in my bark.
I have hundreds of scars.

Each year I am fertile,
Setting flowers attracting pollen.
I am nourishing seeds and nuts.

The sweetest moments,
Is when lovers meet for the first time.
This is my long lived dream.

Wow Ole what a sweet and romantic write.
The most precious moment indeed is when
two lovers meet for the first time.

Ole this poem is sweet and I like the flow of it and how you describe yourself and your journey within each line. My favorite stranza is...

During spring when my leaves are new,
Lovers cut their names in my bark.
    I have hundreds of scars

    Sweet.
