Why?

by Edgar Jones   Nov 13, 2012

Earnest love, why must you do this to me?
Taxing every single fiber of my being
My golden lantern gone with nothing left
Giving me goose bumps as the sunsets
Let's be honest and not have to pretend
I am not your marionette or best friend
Unfiltered delights that fail to satiate
Mere delicacies preferred to ingratiate
French candles, flower petals, satin linen
Simply gazing, slowly stroking, only grinning
For a second there you had me swayed
Revived my hopes in the height of May
What is a life, without a woman by my side?
A man subdued, combating his ego and pride
