When I Met You.

by Carlos Gonzalez   Nov 13, 2012

When I met you
I was a total mess.
Into drugs & into sex
I was out of this world
& into my own place.
Never thought I'd
Love someone else
With this fragile heart.
Until you came too
Me like the breaking dawn.
When I met you
You were the change
Of my lost life.
I dressed like a mess
Because I had no one
To impress.
Peaking out my window
Just to see your beautiful face.
When I met you
You were stuck in my mind
I couldn't get your
Image out of my heart.
I feel like a fool
Writing these songs
But I know one day
You'll be mine.

Aww this is such a cute poem. I like how you reuse the title throughout the poem. And the transition of who you used to be than this love struck peeper [but in a cute way... not creepy]. And the line "with this fragile heart", it seems like you're talking about yourself and you know, I really like it. It is a huge contrast to the "sex craving druggy" [not calling you a druggy... just couldn't find the right word for it]. For someone who is into those hardcore things to have a gently heart, it sets up a really sweet and gentle topic for a poem. To watch such a "hardcore" man to turn into a loving person, it's too cute. And don't get the wrong idea for cute... not the puppy-dogs-with-big-eyes cute... it is a very sweet poem though it isn't filled with all that crummy emotional stuff.
