The Moment Between

by Andrew   Nov 15, 2012

There you were
Bright as the day
When all within my sight
Was gray.
A question
A word
A reverie gave way
"I'm sorry,"
You heard me say
Then nothing but tears
And racking sobs held sway.
Just the moment before
I had drifted away
Steeled myself to
Shuffle loose this clay.

But there you were
And I decided to stay.

Of all the things
Life could be said to mean
Where so little transcends
The reality I've seen
Though I live here
In the moment between

Life and death
Night and day
Just for you I'll tarry
While I may.
