SOUTHERN COMFORT FOOD

by Patricia Dorsey   Jan 12, 2013

It's been announced about our state,
That we are the fattest in the nation;
We always top the "unhealthy list,"
It's always seemed our station.
It's absolutely clear to me,
That the world would know just why;
If they'd ever been to South Pontotoc Grocery,
And tried the Peach Fried Pie.
The food in our state's so good,
There's just no parallel;
If eating good cooking were against the law,
We'd all certainly go to jail.
We've got some men who cook for us,
Like no woman ever could;
And passing up a plate of hot catfish,
Now, tell me one who would.
Yes, everything is filled with fat,
Or fried deeply in some grease;
And if our tea's not sweet enough,
We can hardly keep our peace.
We all want to "live our best life,"
Be healthy and all of that;
But, unfortunately in our fair state,
It's SO delicious getting fat.
