Stupefied

by MyHalozChokinMe   Jan 14, 2013

Courageous convictions bind me
to hubris-paved good intentions.

Facing confusion's cavernous gap,
I am struck, unsuspecting.

Thickening air becomes a sticky
veil, stopping breath, labored
inspiration, postured to seek
acceptance.

Trivial excuses, begging pardon
for my whitening complexion.

Filled once, now slowly draining
like a punctured, plastic bag
sailing through an empty lot.

Disposable nature of being,
knowing fully yet still
fleeting...

A just refusal to participate,
ignorant certainty clamps on.

Being sure, such a hideous joke,
knowing the limitations of
my shallow lungs.
