Inflation

by Beautiful Chaos   Jan 21, 2013

Oh shallow heart
Why do you beat
Inside of a chest
My soul finds so sweet

Why must you hide
In this beautiful mind
To taint what I see
Kill what we find

A desolate place
This mountain of pride
Searching for things
Just one can't provide

Give it all away
Be blind to what's true
Nothing else matters
It's them or it's you

Yes they may love
You might even care
Vanity's your curse
Beauty your prayer

Insignificant matters
A vacuous foe
Killer of freedom
The inflated ego

Love this, great rhyming scheme, each stanza knits well from one to the other.
Interesting that you chose the word 'shallow' to describe the heart. But when you read on you can see how it is all linked and fits in perfectly.
    great read.
    Very polished piece therefore;
    nominated.
