A Soldier's Eyes

by Gary R Priester   Feb 9, 2013

A soldier's eyes can tell no lies
He's seen too much it's made him wise

His life he lives for friends he's lost
His heart is strong he knows the cost

His thoughts are deep as peace he seeks
From things he's done from things he's reaped

His world moves slow from dusk till dawn
His soul grows old but struggles on

And if we look deep in his eyes
There's always pain there's always pride

But when his time does come to pass
God welcomes him to peace at last

Inspired by the passing of a family friend.
He was a three time Purple Heart recipient in WWII
