Non-cents

by joseph santacruz   Feb 17, 2013

My all mighty buck is not so all mighty now
I guess this is the rainy day I should have saved for.
I'll gladly take the penny for my thoughts.
My car no longer stops on a dime.
Tooth fairy left no quarter under my pillow.
Penny un-wise pound foolish.
Please give me wooden nickels, plug nickels and red cents.
I wish someone would drop the dime on me.
I couldnt afford to put in my two cents.
The buck dosent stop here anymore.
I cant afford to coin a phrase.
I havent a buck to pass.
All this non-cents has given me a headache
and I cant afford aspirin.
One thing is crystal clear.....Poverty sucks!
Woe is me!
C'mon you greedy one percent bastards share!............................Please?

Good poem with nice texture, but the ending threw me off. I read it again and stopped at can't afford aspirin. Clever shit
