I already started missing you,
Long before you were gone,
Grieving from the start,
For the person I used to know.

Funny how you were the broken one,
But now I'm the one who needs saving.
You found piece,
Now I'm the one that's caving.

You told me it was ok to be afraid,
Each day u helped me through.
But you never told me it would be so hard,
And that eventually you'd loose.

Each day we shared a memory,
Of the years that passed us by,
Sometimes we shared our laughter,
Other times we'd sit and cry.

We talked of all the times we tried,
Of all the times we fought,
Of all the times our worries,
Were left closed behind closed doors.

Everyday, you told a story,
And everyday I thought the same,
With the help of such a soldier
Each fight I had I'd always win.

Everytime I faced a challenge,
you were always there,
Each time I'd need a little help,
You never left me in despair.

If only then, I knew this,
if I had looked and actually seen,
That there was always a battle you would have to fight,
That you would never gonna win.

    Lost battle as a title?

Great insight in this poem, Rebecca. Only in hidsight do we catch a glimpse of reality and of how we spent our efforts.

Did you meant to say "peace" in the second stanza, instead of "piece"?

    Well done and welcome home,

    5/5 Ingrid
