Long Lonely Road

by Helen   Feb 28, 2013

As i walk down this lonely road, I stop to rest a while and stare at the familiar sounds that surround me but the one i love is no longer here. I'm thinking"How long has it been since two young lovers shared this spot"? I lean against a towering pine and gently caress it's " truelove knot". The flowers are blooming, the birds still sing, yes, even an eagle is on the wing. And while those things are still the same, my heart is breaking as I call your name. The blazing sun shines on my body but doesn't seem to touch my heart, it might as well be hail stones falling..nothing matters now, oh why did we ever have to part? As the flowing river rushes past me, it seems to ease my troubled mind, cause i'm lost in a world of yesteryear, it seems like a long lost time. As memories flow, i realize my heart cant hold another pain! It's time to go now while the stars are shining, I stumble forward and call your name. I know now that I have to join you darlin, i'll meet you in a little while as the swirling waters takes my body, you hold my hand, I kiss your smile.......

This is great it explains enough to know what the situation is unlike a lot of others I read and I thought you expressed the emotions perfectly, especially at the end. 5/5 thanks for the great poem!
