White Dress

by Daylight Lucidity   Mar 1, 2013

She stands there all dressed in white
Staring at the mirror, flowers in hand
She tries to smile, it's such a precious night
Now she's scared, the second thoughts weren't planned
The bells ring and chime the tune of love
And she makes her way through the doors
Everyone stares as she glides down the aisle
Beauty that cannot ever be put in words.
Behind her veil tears run down her face
Whether they're of joy or remorse she doesn't yet know
She glances around the seemingly joyous space
Searching for a sign to tell her so...
The man she engaged herself to, all dressed in uniform,
Takes her hand, so delicate and unsure,
He lifts her veil, tears still fall silently forlorn,
Instead of his, her eyes meet mine, they ask who'd she prefer...
My smile is slight, I came for her
She knows I love her with all that I have
With her slight hesitation I get down on my knee
Now I, too, have asked her to marry me.
The man screams, the man shrieks
I notice him not, her baffled eyes tell a secret
Quiet he goes, she finally speaks,
Her story is told, the one of this night,
How she stood in her room and asked for a sign
Of whom she should marry, of whom she should love
Now she says she's seen, she's heard, enough.
The man whispers a plea, he holds her diamond
She shakes her head and slowly says, "you're kind, but you shan't be mine."
Family gasps, sobs are cried
She turns towards me, my heart beats fast
I hold a ring within my grasp
"Marry me, radiant moon of my sky"
Her silence shocks all, breathing stops
Flowers drop one by one upon the floor
Her tears stream fast, my heart still drops
She whispers, "you want me- are you quite sure?'
I nod, the silence taking my voice
"You still have a choice"
She nods her head and runs to me quick
My arms agape to engulf her in embrace
Our love is sealed with that one kiss
The kiss of forever's sweet taste...
They clap, they laugh, they dance all around
Singing today, today, true love was found.
Gloriously we must all confess
Our life began with her white dress.

A sad, and yet beautiful love story. Though, I wasn't expecting everyone to clap and laugh and dance around, that was actually surprising, lol. But great ending nontheless.
