Lost

by John Kramer   Mar 8, 2013

Behind the wall stood a piano
Dusty and out of tune
My ear to the wall
I listened
Holding my breath
I could hear her play
Through the window
She whispered to me
I'll always play for you
But she has now gone away
I heard the screams
The pleading
Mother
Father is beating me
The screams fired my rage
I knocked on the door
Asking for her
They said she ill
She had to go away
No one believes me
What I heard her say
Even now
I hold my breath
Listening
Always listening
The music never plays
