Promises

by PiggyPie   Mar 9, 2013

Promises are meant to be broken,
So they always said
I neglected their warnings,
Fell too deep, too far
I trusted you with all my heart,
Forgave all your mistakes
Somewhere in me I found it
To give a chance again,
To allow myself to break again
"my love and tolerance might change him, move him"
What a blatant lie!
Your empty, cold promises hurled at me
Resonated in my soul
Only to rebound into the abyss
Raging waves of nothingness
Another promise, another chance, another day
But this is your last promise, I promise you
For I won't search in me any longer
To give a chance again,
To allow myself to break again
Because promises are meant to be broken
So they always said
I neglected their warnings
Fell too deep, too far
But today I know
... promises are meant to be broken
