A Long Walk for Wayne County

by Lifesbreath   Mar 15, 2013

My soul stood
decadent and gray,
I knew for my sins
I would certainly pay.

Cold and stoned, straying
far from home it seem as the
icy cold October air could
not leave my bones.

I ripped and bit, inside
a hole at the endless
emptiness of the
war for my soul.

Looking, inward, at
the blind man in search of
solace lamenting at who
I once was...

I had to first reach up for
forgiveness that only God could
crown me because though God's son
Jesus Christ's death, burial and
resurrection. he found me.

Only then could I reach down to
put away the sadness that
bound me and then
I took a long walk for Wayne County.

My favorite verses of this poem. It was really moving, and powerful.
