Romeos

by Jaymi Lynn   Apr 4, 2013

"Have a heart" they say, but I have had
one too many, each full and misunderstood.
Or taken, like leaves from branches, and tossed
into the abyss, where the sweet-talkers never missed.
No, not one of them.
They left quicker than falling asleep;
were as sly as weary eyes when tempted to dream,
and boy, did I dream; because they told me to.
"Dreams are wishes" they say, well I dreamed
and I wished, like the healthy child of heart I was
and listened while Romeos whispered sweet songs of love.
I've had my fill of sly and sweet-talkers above all
but a Romeo is most cherished, for he makes the fun lie in the fall.

    This is a metaphorical piece on Romeo with an angle... love this! The design of the heart, can't handle anymore heartache and yet there is a bittersweet comfort, even if false, for just a little while... this is a powerful piece!
