Alpha

by Tess Harvester   Apr 10, 2013

Alpha

In Africa
In a dusty jeep
Across the Namibian desert
Before the sun rises
I will take a ride.

Under the morning lamp
Across the billowed
Folds of coral-painted sand
With binoculars
I will seek lions.

Where the desert grasses huddle
In plant villages
And where the lions gather
Like tawny sculptures
The jeep will idle.

Amid his lionesses
Surrounded by yelping pups
Like a president in the spotlight
Or the pope at a pulpit
The alpha lion will pose.

He will stare into the hazy light
Where divinity breathes
Vitality across the sandy carpet
Into his niche
And across my soul.

    Ooooo
This was so clear and vivid, it may as well have taken me out of my seat and dropped me right in the middle of the wild African plains :o

I really like how you did this :D
