Our Tree

by Lifesbreath   May 2, 2013

Our Tree branched into three
Mom, Dad and family

The first branch was not so true
It grew out across the grass having
Its shady point of view

Leaving much to be desired
Our Tree grew still much higher

The second branch running such straight slighter
Seen the blue a little more brighter

Giving a little more thought
To the direction that it ought

Our Tree did stay and grew
A little taller everyday

Keeping the third in the center upright and strong
Despite the two bickering in wrongs

Making their decisions to part long ago
They would reap the winds that they sowed

The third grows straight and true
Because it always has love for the both of you

Being that God had love for us all
So much that Our Tree will not fall

I truly love the whole aspect of this poem. The tree being a metaphor for your family tree. Your mother, your father and you... at some point your mom and dad divorced and split their ways, but you were the middle and connected them both enough for the tree to stand tall.

    Simply beautiful!

I'm glad you liked this piece. The tree is real and well as a metaphor. It's at Forest Hill Park Richmond, Va were I take my kids to play. We'd have races back and forth and would touch Our Tree at the finish. This poem means alot to me and I'm so glad it was realized, expressed and heard.

    Thank you
